We continue to hear more and more every day about the ever-increasing cost of housing in Toronto.  Yet, we still hear precious little about measures to make housing more affordable and accessible.

The City’s Planning and Growth Committee recently voted to send a motion to City Council that requests the province of Ontario to include provisions for inclusionary zoning in Bill 73.  At it stands, Bill 73 is supposed to be all about planning for Toronto’s future housing stock, but is silent on the issue of inclusionary zoning.  Appropriate changes to the Planning Act are urgently needed.

We will keep track of this!

Meanwhile, we continue to work on our municipal literacy toolkit, featuring exciting stuff on transit, childcare, housing, recreation, city planning, finances and police services for all women.  More soon!
